Old-Fashioned Amish Sugar Cookies
I decked in green and red sprinkles these melt in your mouth sugar cookies for the holidays, but they rolled in any sort of sprinkles your heart wants or easy sugar!
With a Facebook teaser was shared by me I've discovered a secret recipe for the signature Amish Sugar Cookies of Helen Rudesill. Stay prepared for the large display in a couple of weeks, however you are able to sample AND find the recipe by simply attending Indianapolis' November 29 concert including the Escher String Quartet's Ensemble Music Society!

Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 4 1/4 cups bread
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp salt
Directions
- Mix together. Add vanilla and eggs and beat well.
- In another bowl, whisk the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Combine until it integrated.
- Cover dough with plastic wrap and chill even overnight or a few hours.
- Line baking sheets with parchment paper and simmer to 325º to create. Roll dough into balls and place.
- Prior to flattening each ball Having a flat glass dip the glass vegetable oil sugar. Press down until the borders separate. If desired sprinkle tops with sugar.
